Too Many Experts - Keep Horse Racing
Simple. by Malcolm MacLean © 2009
So many systems - So many reviews - So many adverts - So many experts. Where
does any punter start to learn? and from whom?
This is an enormously difficult subject for punters to approach so lets take
horse racing back to the basics and go from there. No matter what type of
betting interests you, whether it be backing for a win, backing each-way or
backing for a place only:
Here's your first line of thought. You have to be quite successful
with your selections!
Second thought. Your selections must overall be able to show a profit!
It's only the money and the profit any punter should be interested in -
NOTHING ELSE.
There is so much information, 'over information' available on the internet,
very few punters have any chance of winning any amount. There are a number of
apparent problems and a number of good reasons why most punters simply keep
losing their cash all of the time, year after year. The reasons may upset some
readers of this article too, but the reasons are valid and quite true.
Before continuing I'll explain why I know this. Having been in this business
now for close to 40 years and operating in Australia, The UK and The USA along
with many other countries. Over the years I have corresponded with thousands
upon thousands of punters with their questions or comments. I've always made a
point of responding personally to each and every one.
Swapping and changing systems all of the time.
This is the first reason, it's always been the reason, long before the
Internet ever existed. But in this day and age of The Internet and Internet
gambling more to the point Internet Publishing. Everyone is being brainwashed
into believing there is an automatic system out there, that will take no time at
all to make your selections, and you will win every day of your life if you buy
it now. This message has been advertised as far back as the early 1930's, I
know, my company was there too!
That's the advertising angle:
Learn this: No winning system has ever been invented that will win all the
time. It will never be invented:
Whilst this is all simply misleading advertising and wrong. The punter is
also to blame and the usual first mistake and one that is always repeated.
They buy a system or e-book method expecting to win immediately, when they don't
someone will review the particular system or book, say it's rubbish all over the
internet and then move on to the next great system of the week. (wash and
repeat) - same things been happening for decades, I've seen it all before.
Bottom line. ANY punter must stick to his chosen method of betting
providing it can profit. Start to swap around trying different things everyday
and this punter will simply lose, and continue to lose for ever more.
Keep your punting simple:
I'm not a fan of level stakes or betting to a percentage of a bank, at least
not in the traditional way, I have my own way. But, here are a few guideline
rules any punter should follow.
When searching out a selection method to pick your runners, for whatever type
of bet you wish to make. Find a method that is flexible enough to include
personal judgment which will be gained with experience over time. Avoid ANY
system that follows dead set rules:
Following past results to the letter and following statistics and patterns
will never show an overall profit, never. If it does it will always be a minimal
profit at best.
Follow systems and statistical data to the letter and making the selections
in this manner, and you will always be backing the same runner that the rest of
the punters will be backing in your country.
AVOID ANY STAKING PLAN THAT INCLUDES INCREASING YOUR STAKE AT ANY TIME IN
ANY MANNER:
99% of every system sold, everywhere on and off the Internet rely on
this line of thought. This line of attack will kill ANY punter over time
everywhere. It usually doesn't take much time either.
If your favorite advert this week shows a system that looks fantastic with
past results backing this up, usually stating that with this new wonder plan
when you hit a loser simply increase your bet or even more stupid double it.
This approach is the beginning and end of you as a punter, simple as that.
Forget that line of thought straight away. You won't and can't win.
Not like that. If it can't show a profit of any kind on level stakes, you are
immediately on a loser.
IDEAS:
1 Find a suitable selection method
2 Make sure it can at least profit on level stakes
3 STICK to the method
4 Refine that method
5 Learn more about why and how you are making these selections
These are simple and basic ideas to follow. Start with this simple approach
and you will do far better in the long run. Have patience, do not bet on every
race ever. Choose and make selections wisely, never increase your stake money,
never double you stake money. Avoid any type of Martingale Type Plan (doubling
up etc)
Avoid blindly following favorites - blindly following tipsters - blindly
following statistics - blindly following patterns.
Use your head, think a little. begin to use this approach and you are
commencing on a path to profit.
Much has been written on the internet, including my own websites
here. Following this advice will put
you in a better position to take on horse racing if your desire is to ever show
a profit.
